A year already!

I started this blog right around Jerry's Kids time last year....this means I am a year older also. Doesn't Jerry look great?? Hard to believe this guy is 82!

August 27

On August 27, 1982, Billy's parents were out of town. I went over to his house. It was just the two of us. It was unusual for that house to be empty, and back then being alone was rare. Come to think of it, it is rare now also! ANYWAY, that night I made a fabulous Jane food we called "Chicken Roll Ups". We also had champagne. We tried to have scalloped potatoes but they were pretty much raw after a long time in the oven. Ick. Then we talked and talked, then we kissed & kissed. Then we talked about the future.
This week, on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, Billy brought me roses- and I made Chicken Roll Ups for the 27th time.

Blast from the Past

Emily had her last show of the summer at her favorite music camp. Her part this time was to be the creative side of a brain (long story) and her costume requirement was HIPPIE. We had a lot of fun putting this together from the peace signs & mod flowers on her jeans to the daisy chain in her hair. The end result was a bit freaky-like looking at myself, 40 years ago....

Our beloved Santa Cruz Hotel

First it was the Dream Inn, way back when Billy's parents would go once in a great while. Then it became the Coast Santa Cruz. We celebrated Barb & Jack's 50th anniversary there in 1999. We have been back many times since then. We love the hotel, the pool, the restaurant, the Boardwalk, Pizza My Heart, Bowling, the OCEAN...but we hadn't been there in a very long time because it was closed for renovation. Now it is once again the Dream Inn-and very different. Still, it is the same pool, the same family, and the same OCEAN. As Ryan would say-it's absolutely FABulous!

Ryan really got in to the waves this time. He was the Sand Monster after this day!

Enjoying the sounds of the ocean...

SWEET Suite!!

Last Days of Summer

And it appears it will also be the last year of Ye Olde Hot Tubb. It is on its last legs; cold water and barely filtering. Oh, well. It had a good run!

I swear there is a picture of my mom at about this age and she has the exact same expression on her face!

Miss Avery came by a few times. Here are (is?) "Emnave" doing a fashion show. WORD.

BIG day for Miss Em

Here is the lovely Emily showing off her lovely earlobes in the parking lot of the Mall.

We stopped for a healthy snack at Wetzel's...

Looks like Emily is wondering WHAT she was thinking...

Waiting in the chair. " What- ME worry???"

The countdown: a very calm, collected 9 year old and a very sweaty mother, faking a smile.

Double click on the picture to see the beautiful, pale pink earrings!

She did a GREAT job!

Flowers from my new little Buddy

I will be taking care of an adorable boy named Henry starting in September when his mom has to go back to work. I've known his mom since she was pretty little. They came by & brought me flowers. I think I'm gonna like this job!

HENRY!!

MORE old friends!

I have a lot of OLD friends. I mean, friends I have had for a long time, not that they are old. Oh, who am I kidding? We are all old now...but we still know how to get down & get funky with our bad selves. Alex & Amanda had us over for a lovely outdoor BBQ. Alex is the one standing next to the piano singing- I cannot believe I didn't get a picture of his way too lovely wife. My bad.

Here are Pierce & Tilmin dining al fresco-or as I prefer to call it- Al Franken

Happy Early Halloween!

Ryan Skellington came by to say hi and to remind us that Halloween season is JUST around the corner. OY!

Happy Birthday, Erickson

Erickson celebrated his birthday for a second time here in the U.S. He is 9 now and it seems like he has always been here.
