We're still here: 2007

We are still here, my wonderful husband & my sweet children. I like December because it makes me stop & think. Slow down. Look next to me. There is usually at least one healthy, warm person at my side when I am in this house I love. There are lights, chairs, beds and heat; a tree, and hope. There is a chance that maybe we, as a race, will get past this phase in history, and move on to a better day. This is Christmas to me. Love of life means hope to me. We are the new day.

Billy's Village...must be December!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING. Has YOUR Goose gained the proper amount of weight yet??

Well, it's almost here and my kids are anxiously awaiting their flat screen TVs and new laptop computers. It's gonna be LONG wait....here is our lovely tree, this year complete with TINSEL! Didn't even know if they made tinsel anymore-but I found some. Emily & I put it on the tree, and in my head I heard my Grandmother, Gawkie (yes, Gawkie) telling me "One strand at a time. Drape it, don't throw it...ONE AT A TIME!!" Then my brother would put on one BOX of tinsel on a tree branch just to drive her bananas. Pretty funny. So now, we sing the "That Girl" theme song-or, at least what I THOUGHT the words were when I was a kid : "She's tinselonitry..." Billy's was even better. He thought it was " Broadway..is that girl! She's insalodatry...she's everything that every girl should beeeee!" Please do not ask me what the heck INSALODATRY is, 'cause I don't know. Must be a kin to the "Hello Dolly" lyric: 'I feel the room swayin' 'cause the band's playin' one of your old favorite songs from Wueba Gwen..."

And now, a shot of our cool Nativity that Billy's parents gave us in 1986, then a shot of Jane's Nativity from the Philippines...the one that would come out every year and Jane would worry about losing the "tiny pieces." My favorite figure is the little chicken...there is also a pig. Come on, double click on the bottom picture & find that Christmas chicken! Too funny.

Hmmmm. After double clicking on this picture, I notice you can't really see the chicken. He's in front of the little girl kneeling,,,and not only that: the pig appears to have fallen on his side. Too much Egg Nog.

Christmas Tree Patch

Well, it's not really our usual Christmas Tree Patch. Our beloved Pumpkin Patch finally got the axe this year, and it was the same lot where we would get our tree each ear. It had a real choo choo, real live animals & all kinds of fun stuff. We are all very sad that it's gone-but we found a pretty good tree place yesterday. It has a giant Santa, pictured here with the kiddies, who look like semi adults...

Ah, the Holly Days

Nothing like another holiday time to get your blood pumping. Am I ready? Sure-all done! Gifts bought & wrapped; the tree is up. All I have to do now is sit back & enjoy...........NOT. It's December 6, and I am still in denial. I am the Queen of Denial.
A nice little get away happened today: the fourth grade field trip to Mission San Juan Bautista. Rainy, cold, far away, and a bunch of 9 year olds....hormones beginning to boil-but I had fun. At least I was forced to forget about how behind I am in the Christmas department- I mean, what can ya do about it when you are in San Juan Bautista?? Nuthin'! Here are a few pictures of my darling daughter, still my little baby for another minute or two before she grows WAY up, running around with her buds and her VERY young teacher, Mrs. Wu. If you click on a picture, you can see it close up. Yeah- she is young. I am pretty sure I graduated High School about 4 years before Mrs. Wu's mom got pregnant with her. WHATever!
